The Pat Munro Foundation help provide much needed storage space for Fortrose based Chanonry Scouts
Fortrose based Chanonry Scouts put out an SOS to The Pat Munro Foundation after Highland Council gave them permission to put up a much-needed storage cabin.
Previously the scouts had been storing all their equipment outdoors in a trailer. The Black Isle Community Common Good Fund agreed to pay for a shared storage cabin, but the scouts needed someone to help lay the concrete slab foundations for the cabin to be erected.
The new cabin will be put to good use straight away and will be used to store all the Scouts equipment including a trailer and several tents. Fortrose Community Council will also use the facility to store items such as ballot boxes and Christmas lights.
Hamish Little, Development Manager at Pat Munro Homes said,
When we heard the scouts needed help to lay foundations for their new storage cabin we were only too happy to help. Pat Munro Homes is currently building a selection of 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom homes at Greenside in Rosemarkie and so we had the equipment and material on hand to lay the foundations for the new cabin.
Simon Hammock, a Cub Leader from the Fortrose based Chanonry Scouting said:
Its great to have a new storage cabin for all our equipment. Previously it was stored outdoors and so exposed to the elements, often getting damp with items having to be thrown away. The support we have received from The Pat Munro Foundation and local community means we will now be able to maintain and store our existing equipment safely and securely.
The Pat Munro Foundation was established in 2018 and provides support to a variety of worthy causes across the area including charities, community groups and other disadvantaged or social enterprise entities. It’s run by staff from Pat Munro (Alness) Ltd and The Pat Munro Foundation and members of “Team Pat Munro” organise and take part in several events throughout the year to raise money, with match funding provided by the company.
