Apprentice Accounts Assistant

Position Details

Location: Alness

Working Hours: Full Time (Mon – Fri 8.30am – 5pm)

Duration: 2-year training period (potential to progress onto further training and a permanent role)

Holidays: 30 days

Remuneration: In line with National minimum wage

Probationary Period: 3 months from commencement.

Job Summary

You will work towards an accounting qualification at the same time as working in the office. You will learn from experienced personnel, shadowing them and taking on more responsibilities as you become more confident in your knowledge.

Training

You will undertake work placed training to attain an AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting which will be through the Virtual Learning Academy.

Principal Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of an Apprentice Accounts Administrator include:

  • Sales and purchase ledger processing
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Scanning sales and purchase invoices into software
  • Using cloud-based software to complete book-keeping tasks
  • Receiving, processing and filing paperwork, e.g. invoices, expenses, requests for payment
  • Keeping track of figures by working with spreadsheets

And from time to time other duties as directed by their Line Manager.

The successful applicant will require the following skills & experience:

  • Ideally, basic word and spreadsheet skills.
  • Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent Telephone manner
  • Organisation and record keeping
  • Information technology skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake tasks out with the key job responsibilities
  • Be trustworthy, friendly, timeous and reliable.
