Road Surfacing Operative

Location Based from Home, with site locations throughout Highland and Moray.
Working Hours Min 39 Hours per week.
Duration Permanent
Holidays 6 weeks per year
Remuneration £12.76-£18.57/hr - relevant to experience, plus overtime at enhanced rates.
Probationary Period 3 months from commencement.

Core Functions of Role 

  • Work as part of a Surfacing squad, undertaking road maintenance, road and footway surfacing, as well as other ancillary activities such as planing. 
  • Ensuring works are carried out safely, and to specification 


Duties and Responsibilities-

Reporting to the Surfacing Manager - your duties will include: 

  • Perform banksman duties for items of plant and delivery vehicles. 
  • Perform traffic management duties. 
  • Manual placement of asphalt materials including shovelling, barrowing and raking. 
  • Operate items of plant (pavers, rollers, tractairs, etc) as well as hand-held items such as saws and breakers. 
  • Daily pre-use checks on plant including daily maintenance i.e. greasing, cleaning, topping up of fluids etc.

The successful applicant will ideally have: - 

Personal Attributes 

  • Surfacing industry related knowledge and experience (not essential as training will be provided)  
  • A flexible and accommodating work approach 
  • Be self-motivated and have a positive attitude
  • Be trustworthy, reliable and approachable for all team members 
  • Be willing to learn and develop new skills  


Certification 

  • A full, current driving license. 
  • CSCS / CPCS / MPQC cards are desired but not essential as training may be provided.
