Road Surfacing Operative

Core Functions of Role
- Work as part of a Surfacing squad, undertaking road maintenance, road and footway surfacing, as well as other ancillary activities such as planing.
- Ensuring works are carried out safely, and to specification
Duties and Responsibilities-
Reporting to the Surfacing Manager - your duties will include:
- Perform banksman duties for items of plant and delivery vehicles.
- Perform traffic management duties.
- Manual placement of asphalt materials including shovelling, barrowing and raking.
- Operate items of plant (pavers, rollers, tractairs, etc) as well as hand-held items such as saws and breakers.
- Daily pre-use checks on plant including daily maintenance i.e. greasing, cleaning, topping up of fluids etc.

Personal Attributes
- Surfacing industry related knowledge and experience (not essential as training will be provided)
- A flexible and accommodating work approach
- Be self-motivated and have a positive attitude
- Be trustworthy, reliable and approachable for all team members
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills
Certification
- A full, current driving license.
- CSCS / CPCS / MPQC cards are desired but not essential as training may be provided.
